STATE EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTRE (SEOC)

Welcome To State Disaster Management Authority Arunachal Pradesh

All-State Governments are mandated under Section 14 of the act to establish a State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). At the State level, the SDMA, headed by the Chief Minister, is responsible for laying down policies and plans for DM in the state. It, inter alia, approves the State Disaster Management Plan in accordance with the guidelines, instructions, advice issued by Govt. of India, NDMA, supervise the implementation of the State Disaster Management Plan, recommend disaster risk reduction measures by the Line Departments and review the developmental plans of the Departments to build a disaster-resilient society, viz laying of the techno-legal regime and its compliance, integration of disaster-resistant techniques in the construction works, reviewing measures taken for disaster risk reduction and capacity building by the Departments, taking up special projects/ plans at the community level to reduce its vulnerability.

National Disaster Management Authority, India & Arunachal Pradesh SDMA conducted a Mock exercise on the #Earthquake scenario (21-23 Nov) for all 26 districts. 189 sites, 27 hospitals & 54 relief camps were activated. Army, IAF, Assam Rifles, NDRF, CAPFs, TSP, AAI, NGO & volunteers participated.

👉 The Mock Exercise validated procedures and processes for effective multi-agency disaster response and facilitated inter-agency synergy. It was preceded by a Table Top Exercise to rehearse disaster managers in their roles and duties.

👉 Response to secondary effects due to an Earthquake was also simulated - viz. GLOF, Landslides, Fires, flash floods due to river blockage/slides and Industrial accidents involving major IOCL Fuel/Gas Storage sites.

👉 Shri Tanpho Wagnaw, Advisor to CM on DM, Shri Dharmendra, Chief Secy Arunachal Pradesh, senior State Govt. officers and all stakeholders were present for the events. The outcomes of the exercise were appreciated by all participants and received wide media coverage.
